I’ve tried several other products for starting fires, that were less than satisfactory. These are fairly reliable, compact, easy to store and easy to use.I like how easy these are to use. The price is quite high.Always has been a good product never let me down yet....If you have the right setup one stick is needed and your fire is lite.These work the best for me.These sticks work great for getting a fire started. They do need a little paper and/or kindling, but work well as a slower burn to get the wood lit. They do not have a smell that other products I've used have. They have a strider surface on the box, though I just set it up with the fire then light the tip with a lighter or match--be careful as it flares up a bit initially (BBQ lighters work well!). I have used these for years and will continue buying them as long as I can find them. Great product! You don't need newspaper or other starter material. I also break them in half to get twice the starts. Half of one will lite a good size pile of kindling no problem. The strike head part doesn't always work so I just use a match. I also keep one of them in my snowboarding pants with other emergency gear. They're also good for camping trips, compact, and waterproof.
