These safety box cutters are very convenient and safe to carry in your pocket when working with small to medium cardboard boxes. I use them at work in a retail setting all the time. I have had a few problems trying to use them on heavily taped boxes. I find if you use the pointed edge to first pop a hole in the heavy tape, then you can work the cutter under the tape and proceed to open the box with less problem. The blades are very sharp when new, although I do wish you could replace the blades after a lot of use. These are super handy to have. For the longest time I have been using this plastic blade box cutter but one part fell off and disappeared and the blade comes loose sometimes – plus it is hard to be precise sometimes. I was VERY frustrated when receiving my goodies from amazon. This set is VERY handy – and I am now relaxed when opening packages. First – you get three of them and I only need to use one at a time. I got these little magnets that look like push pins – so I keep one handy on the magnet pin on my fridge. It fits perfectly and stays put and is always easy for me to find and grab. I do recommend that too!In function – it is easy to use. Even on big boxes – it cuts through tape like it is butter. Seriously easy. I would say the only thing that is not as seamless is if there is tight tape and it is a little tougher to get it between the two cardboard flaps. But again – a little more patience then and it still works sooooo well. Still MUCH easier than the plastic blade thing I was using. It also helps when cutting large boxes down to manageable recycling garbage piles. It really tears through cardboard easily too. I am never afraid of getting cut from the bade either – which was why I originally got the plastic blade thingie. Best yet – it also cuts into the plastic mailer packages as well. I just have to make sure not to cut anything inside – and just need to really cut the edge – then I can tear the rest open easily. VERY handy – recommend!I hope that you have found my review “helpful”. : ) Enjoy your day! : )These are amazing little safety box cutters. I have previously been using scissors or, when available, a box knife to open packages I receive. These replace both of those and are much easier to use. I no longer feel like I need to retract the blade on the box knife between packages, and this works way better than scissors. It cuts smoothly, through tape, cardboard, and has no issue breaking the boxes down after as well. The only thing I think could be better is if I could put a new blade in it when it gets dull, as cutting cardboard dulls these type of blades quite quickly. While it is a 3 pack and will last me a bit, I go through a lot of cardboard so would use at least 1 blade a month. Even with that when these run dull I will definitely be purchasing some more due to their ease of use! This works very well if there's a spot to insert the blade. If the tape runs from end to end, it is very difficult to get the cut started. If the shipper only taped straight down the middle and not along both edges, then this works great. I wish this had some sort of pointy end so that I could get the cut started when the shipper taped all sides. If not for that problem, this would get five stars.Interesting cutters to be sure, found out we could use them to cut open letter envelopes also! Just need a bit of "getting used to" with these cutters, not the regular cutters we've used to, that's all, once get used to it, it's just slip and slide... cutting it open. Too bad that their blades can't be replaced, so they are "disposable" kind of cutters. Easy for EDC, just throw one in your backpack, or slip one in your back pocket, the blade is safely hidden and securely encased in its handle, won't accidently open and cut your finger or whatever. "Klever Kutters," indeed. And I have to bust up a ton of cardboard on a daily basis, so I didn't just try them on a little box. Besides, most of the average and small size boxes I get from Amazon now are that, "use less cardboard," kind. So I'll typically just tear them up with my bare hands. Now, I try to salvage some of the big boxes I get but the tape and labels are always vexing me... Anyhow, I can use these knives to cut off the flaps a lot easier than before! A utility knife is good, for a few minutes... And even a fresh blade is hard to operate when cutting a long piece. The long blades aren't much better, but I can usually get through one big box before it starts getting hung up when trying to bust them down. These here, "Klever Kutters," are something new to get used to, but I find them to work very well! And if the spot is kind of worn where you're trying to start a cut? If you can, start the cut on a flatter edge nearby and once you start your cut you can steer it to where you wanted to make your long cut. Heck, just yesterday I had a box where all four flaps were nearly two feet wide. So after I cut them off, I cut down the length of each flap one or two times, leaving me with a bunch of long half a foot wide slats. Not perfect of course. I'm busting up a box here, lol. Once they are in that condition though, it's easy to rip them in half a few times. Hey, you'd be surprised how much room you can save in trash and/or recycle bags, by busting down cardboard as much as you can. Especially when bags of all kinds cost so much.I have learned in recent years though, that trying to break down a box that a bicycle came in is no easy task! These certainly aren't going to help you with one of those. If you don't like these anyway, regardless of anything else? Go investigate CANARY box cutters and get some of those suckers! In conclusion though, I'd say these truly are,"Klever Kutters!"So, I have found these work well on an easy to open box where the tape has already started to lift, or if there is a gap between the box and the sealing. If it is a well taped box, these do not really cut through it to get it open.Cute, and fun - but only semi-functional.
