Limited box set contains CD/DVD and bonus DVD as well as an EXCLUSIVE picture vinyl. Slayer, the long-reigning titans of thrash, return with Repentless the band's eleventh studio album and it's first album for Nuclear Blast. Produced by Terry Date, Repentless was written and recorded by guitarist Kerry King and singer/bassist Tom Araya at Henson Studios in Los Angeles, along with returning drummer Paul Bostaph and guitarist Gary Holt. Repentless is crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the mainstream. Epentless marks a number of transitions for the band but with their undisputed attitude, Slayer emerges triumphant. Loaded with sensational songs, from the hyper-aggressive metallic blasts of the title track, "Take Control," "Implode" and "Atrocity Vendor" to the ferocious thrash pounding of "Vices," "When The Stillness Comes," and "Pride In Prejudice," Repentless is Slayer through and through.
Great new album!First off people who compare this to Divine Intervention are not true Slayer fans and have no idea what they are saying. All they know is that it is the same drummer. If anything there are hints of Christ Illusion.Second of all if you gave this album less than five stars you are not a true Slayer fan! With that said here it is:I am not going to comment on Repentless or Implode (Implode is over a year old release now I believe) as they were pre-released and any true Slayer fan has already heard them (they are rock the pits of hell! -if you have not heard).1. Best new song: Chasing Death, It kills! Stellar!2. Second best song: Take control (compare the intro to that of Supremist on Christ Illusion album, coupled with the low tones it has a very similar sound but yet a very different and new feel)3. You against you: This song is packed with guitar solos, the second best Gary solos after Repentless and the second best King solos on the album after Repentless.4. Pride in Prejudice: similar chunky sound compare it Catatonic off of Christ Illusion album that kind of feel.5. Atrocity Vendor: is a clear throw away track in my opinion. It was claimed on Wiki that there would be additions to it that improved the original. I did not find that to be true. They should have re-made Aggressive Perfector if they had to pick an old rare-ish track to re-make.Gripe:I expected more from "When the Stillness Comes" there was claimed to be an extended version coming on this album, yet it was the same as the official release. It could have been more like "Beauty Through Order" I wish they ratcheted it up more at the end! Great intro, however, it began to get faster but fizzled.I expected more from "Piano Wire" since king said in an interview that the reason it was taking so long to release this album was that they did not want to stick Jeff's name on a crap tune. The song is good but I expected much more.Gary Holt:NOT enough GARY on this album. I know it is Slayer and Gary is not an official member but I was hoping for more. Gary's best guitar solo (if you have not heard it is: Band: Exodus; album: Tempo of the Damned; song: Blacklist; if you have not heard it and you love solos it is a must album (available on Amazon ;)Overall: FN' SLAYER! IT ROCKS! \M/
