This is perfect for your personal projects or a gift box!The craftsmanship of this is excellent, and it allows you to add your own craftsmanship to it as it is unfinished. Highly recommended (I've bought a second after seeing the potential it had).I needed something that could contain a small gift for a close friend, and wanted something that slid for an opening. Since most gift boxes that I found didn't meet my aesthetics, or were overpriced for what they were, this worked wonders and allowed it to be a much more personal item.I did some light carving, wood burning, and light staining and it came out excellent for my needs. Just one note: due to the grain of the wood (I'm not sure what type of wood it is, but it is good quality) if you are wanting to use a wood burner on it I would recommend cutting the pattern in first since the tree rings are harder than the rest and cause problems on the wood burning alone, making it uneven. This is the only 'negative' I can find on this product, and even then it is a small one, easily fixed by cutting the design before burning, and then most who purchase it probably won't use it the same way I did.
